Derrick Pearson is an award winning producer, songwriter, musician, director and music publisher. From operating so prolifically in many different areas of music, he gained the nickname "Doc" which sticks with him even today. Derrick now uses "Doc" as an acronym for Disciple Of Christ.

Doc's early musical work started with local artist in Washington D.C. but soon transitioned to national artist. He composed, recorded and produced chart-topping songs for The O'Jays, The Whispers, The Dells, and more. As a bass guitarist Doc Pearson recorded with top tier musicians such as drummers Freddie White (Earth Wind & Fire), Rick Wellman (Miles Davis, Chuck Brown), William "JuJu" House (Grace Jones, EU), Jay Williams (Dave Coz, Jonathon Butler), keyboardist, Kevin Bond (Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams) guitarist Mike Scott (Prince, Justin Timberlake) and guitarist Tom Crosby (Peaches & Herb) and more. His song compositions have been selected for use in film and TV shows such as Miami Vice, The Equalizer and Inside NBA Stuff. His achievements and awards included, a Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) Best Producer nomination, three Washington D.C. Government Outstanding Musical Service awards, and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Certified Gold Album award. Derrick served 24 years in Federal Law Enforcement. He possesses an Associate In Arts degree in Business Management, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and is currently involved in advanced religious studies. Doc states that of all his many musical and natural achievements, the achievement he is most proud of is his relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, his 33-year marriage to his lovely wife Lamara and his two daughters Shakina and Shari.

Derrick Pearson gave his life to Jesus Christ in 1990 and since that time has only used his gifts, talents and abilities for the building of the kingdom of God by answering the call of the Lord to preach the gospel through his music and song. He serves as musician in his local church and has served as bassist for numerous church music ministries including the Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship D.C. State and Regional Conferences and more. In 2005 he and his wife Lamar formed IAM Music Company to release his brand of inspirational gospel music. IAM Music Company's 8 CD releases have garnished thousands of song downloads, music streams and video views, while receiving numerous awards and accolades including a Top 10 Billboard Gospel Album Chart position, a Top 50 Media Base Gospel Charts position, 7 Rhythm of Gospel Award Nominations, an EnSound Music Award and more.

In 2014, Doc Pearson completed his homage to his longtime friend, partner and R&B legend, Al Johnson with the CD release titled "It's Alright", a special collection of encouraging adult contemporary gospel and inspirational songs and music video featuring amazing vocal performances by Al Johnson. Al passed unexpectedly October 26, 2013. Doc's "It's Alright" release entered Top 10 in Billboard's Gospel Album Chart and received four nominations for the 2015 Rhythm Of Gospel Awards.

2015 - marked IAM Music Company's 10-year Anniversary, commemorated with the release of a 2 disk CD & DVD Collection of the most requested Derrick "Doc" Pearson music and videos titled, "No Greater Love". "No Greater Love" is a unique blend of adult contemporary R&B, Gospel & Jazz musical styling all crafted around inspiring and encouraging messages of hope through God's grace. "No Greater Love" contains the most sought out songs and videos from IAM Music Company's music projects which have garnished thousands of song downloads, music streams and video views, while receiving numerous awards and accolades. No Greater Love reached Billboards Gospel Album Charts #7 position, and received 4 nominations for the 2016 Rhythm Of Gospel Awards and 6 Independent Radio Alliance Award nominations.

To celebrate the 2015 Christmas season, Derrick Doc Pearson released a Christmas instrumental EP titled "Joy To The World", a 3 song EP of Christmas classics. Doc puts his own fresh groovy take on this beloved Christmas classics, which received rage reviews and critical acclaim.

While society has chosen to ignore God's biblical instructions for marriage, Derrick Doc Pearson boldly proclaims "I Still Do" with songs for a Biblical Marriage Covenant. "I Still Do" is a collection of romantic love songs and inspirational tracks intended to strengthen, inspire and encourage those that are entering or are members of God's biblical marriage covenant. The heart felt songs found in "I Still Do" were inspired by experiences Derrick and his wife Lamara encountered during their 33 years of marriage. Their musical marriage testimonies are intended to inspire other married couples to keep romance in their marriage, while keeping Jesus Christ at the center of their hearts and minds.

In spring 2017, Doc will release his highly anticipated instrumental music project titled "The Family Man". "The Family Man" is an original instrumental music collection intended to inspire, encourage, relax and comfort the family Man. With the help of world renowned musicians and amazing musical production, "A Family Man" is destined to become an instrumental music classic with a style all it's own.
